coco avant chanel

So we've heard all the buzz about Audrey Tautou being cast as Coco Chanel in the upcoming film Coco avant Chanel... But I think there's no secret that we're most looking forward to the recreation of Chanel couture (to be supervised by Lagerfeld, natch)...

the new perm

So I went against my better judgment and got a perm =T I went in to get a "digital perm" which starts at the bottom half of your hair and waves downward... but the hairstylist told me that it was a REALLY bad idea for my hair because it was already so damaged. She somehow convinced me to get this perm instead-- straight from the streets of Japan, so aptly titled the "shaggy perm". Instead of using the typical perm rollers, this perm uses a conical roller so that it's looser on the top and wavier at the bottom. I can't decide whether I love it or hate it...

a cheapie (minus the bag)

This is an outfit I wore a few weeks ago... forgot to post it on the blog. I love this ensemble because of a) the brightness, b) the versatility of each piece, and c) the bargain of it all.
Cardigan, $19.99, Gap; Dress, $55, Alexander Wang for Uniqlo (found through ebay... yessss); Shoes, $25, Bakers; Patent belt, $0! (retails for about $80 I think...), via my Club Monaco employee outfit allowance; Bag, Tod's, no idea how much it was but let's not include it in the list of bargain prices...

model madness

Seems like all the fashion blogs are buzzing about the model cards that have been floating around as of late- And with good reason! There are so many fresh faces mixed in with the ever present vets, which is resulting in a very very hyped S/S 09 Fashion Week...

The Cut named Hye Park & Daul Kim as two of their fave cards this season. It's always so amazing to see Korean models working their way up in this industry- definitely hits close to home and inspires me to work my way to the top as well!

There was a time when all I wanted to do was go to Fashion Week to see the pretty clothes and the famous celebs. I'm still in it for the pretty clothes, but let's just say I wouldn't be as excited to see Jessica Biel as I would if I saw Jessica Stam. Just saying.

columbia is the new yale

This just in: an adorable text from my lover, D. Gossip Girl fans--- run, don't walk!

"Spotted: B shooting a scene that takes place on the campus of Yale. But wait. Since when did Yale ever have these neoclassical structures? Turns out Columbia University is being substituted for the New Haven Ivy today and for today only. Hope this alleviates bad moods. xoxo"

batting my lashes

This is definitely a bit of old news, but I had to write about them after seeing them again in the Nylon September issue. How gorgeous are these Viktor & Rolf for Shu Uemura lashes? I can't get over them. I wish I lived in a world where everyone's eyelashes were as long and animated as these were. It'd be a prettier place, no?

look of the day: penguin chic

I mentioned Samples for (eco)mpassion in a previous post, so I was delighted to find that they've slashed their prices even further to make room for fall arrivals! Luckily I had dinner plans in the Noho area (Phebe's NYC... 25 cent wings with a pitcher of beer on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8pm onward. Need I say more?) so I decided to make a pit stop.

I found this cool tuxedo jacket by Rojas, a LA-based label you can purchase on Karmaloop. $136 to $35? No complaints there...

Check out the sale! It's only getting better as prices are dipping lower...

my first editorial clip!

Sorta!

I recently started my really REALLY brief stint at elle.com/ellegirl.com. I'm only here for two weeks, but I've been learning so much about what goes on behind the scenes of a magazine's online production. This is also my first time being an editorial intern (I've been doing fashion/PR internships for the past 3 years) so this is serving as both a challenging and exciting new experience for me!

Naturally, since I've been doing nothing but watching the Olympics these days, I chose to blog about the games in Beijing.

Check out my blog post at ellegirl.com!

target mania

So the next GO: International designer for Target may not be Jonathan Saunders or Alexander McQueen...

but it is very much one of my faaaaaaavorite designers of the moment, THAKOON PANICHGUL!

*dieeeeeeeeeees*

Wait... I just realized that there's no metro-accessible Target around DC.

...

Guess I'll have to make another trip home to good ol' Jersey for the occasion... add that onto the list alongside Fall Fashion Week, the grand opening of Topshop, and the premiere of High School Musical 3.

artista: fifi lapin

I am SO ecstatic to have found this site... you have no idea! I've seen Fifi floating around the internet on random websites (that's how she ended up on my own header) and have finally found her home.

With the wardrobe one could only wish for, Fifi is constantly clad in the likes of Phillip Lim, Luella, Chanel, and her very own stylish designs. Without a doubt the most fashionable bunny on the net...

Can't wait to see what she's wearing for fashion week!

tiffany's catches on

Looks like old-timer Tiffany & Co. has jumped on the of-the-moment-models bandwagon... and they have done it in EXACTLY the right way.

A full spread. On the left page, a simple portrait; on the right, the same copy "Some Style Is Legendary". Nothing unbearably out-of-reach... not TOO young (ok, maybe pushing the envelope a LITTLE bit on the youth factor- but hey, it's better than Hayden for Dooney?!) and definitely not too old.

Without further ado- SASHA, Lily [Cole], Shalom, HYE...

richard chai for target

The Go: International line isn't set to officially launch until tomorrow, August 3. But like most other lines, Richard Chai for Target pieces were made available to the public as early as last week in select Target locations. I haven't been a huge fan of past Go International designers, but since I absolutely ADORE Richard Chai and thought the lookbook for his collection was decent- I figured I might go check it out for myself!

(excuse the crappy pics via Blackberry- higher quality pics will make their way soon)

Here are two pieces I came back with!

Graffiti Rose dress

Feather gray/Passion purple dress

The last one is still a little iffy for me... Haven't decided if I want to keep it yet! But I figured I'd take it for now since they only have one size run of items so far. Both pieces are extremely comfortable, though. As for the rest of the pieces that I saw- they're nice, but I'll wait til the clearance to buy anything else.

Overall, nice collection. Supposedly, the next Go designer in waiting is Jonathan Saunders... *crosses fingers* There would be nothing worse than muddling down Jonathan Saunders' designs by producing them with cheaply made fabric... so please, Target, do not disappoint!

LV on crack. or something worse.

A look at the collab between Louis Vuitton & Comme Des Garcons... No words. Just... O___O!??!?!??!
